I was born a Friday's Child (loving and giving!) in the January of 1972, in Welwyn Garden City, and I spent the first four years of my life in Hatfield. Electric Warrior by T Rex was the No 1 album, and The New Seekers were top of the pops with "I'd Like To Teach The World to Sing In Perfect Harmony)". On TV we had episodes of The Virginian, A Man Called Ironside, The Onedin Line, and The Goodies. On Radio 1, you had Tony Blackburn, Jimmy Young, Dave Lee Travis, Johnnie Walker, Terry Wogan, and Emperor Rosko, and, then the evening the programming was shared with Radio 2, with Desmond Carrington, Michael Aspel, and 'Friday Night Is Music Night', after which you returned to Radio 1 for John Peel with 'Sounds Of The 70s'
My sister arrived in 1974, and then the family moved to Slough in the Summer of 1976. Both places are based in the London ITV region, so as well as BBC 1 and BBC 2, we were receiving commercial television from Thames Television and London Weekend Television (LWT) during my first 18 years.
